Returning to the Hall of Fame Game for the fourth time in franchise history, the Indianapolis Colts meet the Washington Redskins on Sunday, August 3. Kickoff in Fawcett Stadium is 8:00 p.m. (EDT). The game will be telecast nationally by NBC Sports, while Westwood One provides national radio coverage.
The Colts made their last appearance in this historic venue on July 27, 1996, topping New Orleans, 10-7. The club’s only other appearances in the Hall of Fame Game were on September 6, 1964, when it beat Pittsburgh, 48-17, and on August 7, 1982, when it fell to Minnesota, 30-14. The Colts and Redskins will be meeting for the 27th time in preseason play, but the preseason rivalry is being renewed for the first time since 1981. The Colts own a 15-10-1 preseason series edge, while the league series stands in the Colts’ favor, 18-10. Indianapolis took a 36-22 home victory over Washington on October 22, 2006, the last meeting between the clubs.
