"Today, Indianapolis earned the right to host the 2012 Super Bowl by a vote of the 32 team owners at the NFL meeting in Atlanta. This was truly the community’s bid, and we appreciate all of your support in making it happen. Many of you have added your ideas to our plans - for example, a downtown Super Bowl Village that will give every Hoosier the opportunity to participate in the Super Bowl celebration. We’re also excited about our civic legacy program, centered on the construction of a state-of-the-art football and community center on the campus of Arsenal Tech High School and a broader mission to improve quality of life on Indianapolis’ near east side.
"We look forward to sharing more details with you and continuing to engage you in the discussion as we make the transition from bid committee to host committee. But now, it’s time to celebrate a great victory for our city, our region, and all of us - again, thank you."

Congratulations to all of those involved in the process, this is a proud accomplishment for our city and state.
